Mark documents as confidential or draft

A watermark tells readers a document is private, unfinished or yours. Add a large diagonal stamp across every page, or a flat one on selected pages, in any colour and at the opacity you prefer.

Common watermark ideas

  • CONFIDENTIAL or INTERNAL for business documents.
  • DRAFT or FOR REVIEW for work in progress.
  • SAMPLE or COPY for documents you share as a preview.
  • Your name or company for portfolios and quotes.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The watermark is added in your browser, so the file stays on your device.

Will the watermark cover my text?

It is semi-transparent, so the content underneath stays readable. Choose Light opacity for a subtle mark or Strong to make copying harder.

Can I use other languages?

The watermark uses a standard PDF font that supports English letters, numbers and common symbols.

Can someone remove the watermark?

It is drawn onto each page, which stops casual reuse. Determined users with PDF editors can still edit pages, so don’t rely on it as the only protection.
