Copy text out of any PDF
Selecting text in a PDF viewer often grabs it in the wrong order or breaks every line. This tool reads the whole document, rebuilds the lines and paragraphs, and gives you clean text to paste into an email, a document or a translation tool.
Word count for PDFs
Need the word count of an essay or article saved as a PDF? It’s shown as soon as the text is extracted.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The text is read in your browser, so the file stays on your device.
Why is some text missing?
Scanned PDFs are pictures of pages and have no text layer. The tool tells you when a page has little or no text. Those pages need OCR software to read.
Does it keep tables and columns?
Text is read line by line from top to bottom. Simple tables come out as rows; complex multi-column layouts may need some tidying.
Can I count the words in a PDF?
Yes. The page, word and character counts appear above the extracted text.
